I am an education researcher focused on early childhood and basic education. I use interdisciplinary, mixed-methods research to investigate education policy and practice, and the contexts in which they take place. I am particularly interested in integrating qualitative research and randomized evaluations.

I am currently the Education Program Director at Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), a Research Affiliate of the Global TIES for Children Research Center at New York University, and an Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Applied Statistics, Social Studies and the Humanities at the Steinhardt School for Culture, Education and Human Development at NYU.

At IPA, I direct the Education Sector Program, supporting IPA’s work in education policy and research methods, advancing education initiatives, and serving as an internal PI on certain projects. I direct IPA’s work on the PlayMatters Initiative, a consortium with the International Rescue Committee, Plan International, War Child, and the Behavioral Insights Team.

Before beginning my doctoral program, I lived in Uganda for five years working with Innovations for Poverty Action, helping to set up the country office there and to manage education studies and interventions. Much of my work continues to focus on Uganda, where I collaborate with schools, NGOs, local government officials, and other education stakeholders to conduct research and disseminate findings.

I was a 2017-2018 school year a National Academy for Education / Spencer Dissertation Fellow, a fellow in the Institute for Education Sciences-funded Predoctoral Interdisciplinary Research Training (PIRT) Program, and a recipient of an Additional Insights Research Fellowship. I serve on the board of the organization Yspaniola and as a technical adviser for Elevate: Partners in Education.

Additional research projects include the Sustaining the Boost: Longitudinal Impacts of the Boston Prekindergarten Program and Variation in Impact, where I direct the cost analysis component, and the 3EA Education in Emergencies: Evidence for Action, where I’m conducting qualitative research on a social emotional learning intervention in Niger.
